Sealing of concrete panels
We moved to a new construction site in Guadalajara. The work was carried out by the company SEIMPA: A national company integrated in the construction sector with more than 35 years of experience. Specialised in sealing services, waterproofing, thermal insulation, vertical works, paving, facade cleaning, among others.
It is made up of highly qualified professionals and uses top quality products to always comply with the maximum requirements and regulations in force.
The project consisted of the exterior sealing of all the construction joints of a prefabricated concrete building of about 17,000 linear metres of façade.
In addition, it also carried out the interior sealing of joints between precast concrete panels for the fire compartmentalisation of areas with different uses in the building.
Why is it important to carry out a good sealing?
Good sealing is crucial to maintain the watertightness and integrity of a structure, especially in terms of waterproofing and thermal insulation.
When joints are not properly sealed, water and moisture can penetrate the structure, which can lead to degradation of materials and damage to the structure as a whole. INTERIOR FIRE SEALING…WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?
If a building is not specially designed for fire protection, it is often partially or totally consumed by fire, so it is absolutely essential for the safety of buildings, especially for the safety of people, to implement passive fire protection solutions.
Thanks to the implementation of an adequate passive fire protection system, we can stop the spread of fire and contain it at the place where it originates, for long enough to allow an effective evacuation, facilitating the action of the fire brigade and minimising material damage.
Apart from that, proper sealing of pipe and cable passages prevents smoke and toxic fumes from penetrating into other rooms, which is also vital for evacuation.
Quilosa Professional SINTEX AC 41 was used for the interior sealing of joints for the fire compartmentalisation of the different areas.
This is a very versatile product with up to 4 hours fire resistance (RF/EI). The product retains its flexibility at temperatures ranging from -20º to +80º.
It is SNJF Façades certified. It is also A+ certified, as it is a very low emission product.
